Did Steve Jobs Invent the Internet? Think Again.

When thinking about the world of technology and internet that we now live in, a lot of people think it was because of Steve Job’s brilliant inventions. Little do a lot of people know, it started way before him and was a process in the making much before his time. I may also add that when you think of a computer programmer, most people picture a white male, but throughout history many women and people of color play a large role in the making of our world’s newest era; technology.

Machines that acted as giant calculators were the first of many inventions that made progress to getting the computer to where we are today in the technology world, but it would take brilliant minds that saw the potential within these brilliant inventions. One of these inventions was called the Loom. The Loom was created from using cards that had holes punches in them which would cause a reaction in a needle to sew in a certain pattern in a thread. Using math, these machines suddenly changed the world. Suddenly, making anything with designs didn’t need skill.

There are many women in the STEM field today, but even so, are still making progress to become just as much as a friving force as men. What I mean by this is that men have been running the STEM field for all of time and the suppression of women has held them back from being able to fully share their contributions to the world. Ada Lovelace was a brilliant and creative scientist and her vision of these machines would have been revolutionary and change the world if she would have had the chance to share and fund her intellect with the world. Unfortunaltey cut short, Ada still had her writings to show the world the kind of extremly bright mind she had. Ada was arguably the first computer programmer, ever.

Overall, there are many unseen and unheard inventions and faces that contributed to the technology era that we live in and it is important to recoginze the people who were not respectably recognized in their time.
